VALIDITY PERIOD OF RKAB FOR 1 YEAR 

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia approved the proposal of commission XII of the House of Representatives (DPR) to evaluate the rules of submitting the Work Plans and Budget (RKAB) for holders of mineral and coal mining permits. The DPR proposed to return the validity period of RKAB for 1 year, from the previous valid period for 3 years. (Liputan6)

 

DECREASING HBA IN THE SECOND PERIOD OF JULY 

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources set the reference price for coal (HBA) in the second period of July 2025 at US$97.65. It decreased from the previous period at US$107.35/ton. This HBA provision is valid for 2 weeks starting July 15th, 2025. (DDTCNews.com)

COAL IMPOSED BY EXPORT DUTIES

The government and Commission XI of the House of Representatives agreed on the expansion of revenue base on export duties, especially for gold and coal products. This imposition will burden exporters and producers and make Indonesian coal more expensive. 70% COAL FROM KALIMANTAN

POSTING THE NET PROFIT AT IDR42.76 TRILLION 

PT Bukit Asam Tbk reported a revenue at IDR42.76 trillion and a net profit at IDR5. 10 trillion in 2024. Sales Volume increased at 16% (yoy) to 42.89 million tons, with export sales growing at 30 percent to 20.26 million tons, and domestic sales increased at 6% to 22.64 million tons. NON-US MARKETS SUPPORTING THE COAL REBOUND 

Indonesia as the world's largest coal exporter recorded exports at 405 million tons in 2024. It increased at 6.86% in volume. Its value briefly decreased at 11.8%, but analysts said that the trend of recovering demand from non-US markets such as India and Europe is predicted to support the rebound ahead. (CNBCInd)


POTENTIALLY DECREASING IMPORT IN 2025 

Overall projections for this year put the potential decrease in coal imports by China between 50-100 million tons, or up to 18% from a record 542.7 million tons in 2024. According to the analysts, it occurred due to an increasing domestic production and weakening demand. (CNBCInd)

Suspected illegal coal mining activity in the Southern region of Lebak Regency, Banten, is back in the spotlight. The practice of illegal exploitation continues to take place openly in the Sub-District of Panggarangan, Cihara, and Bayah precisely on land owned by Perum Perhutani KPH Banten.
